LocaleNotes was built following the principle of Privacy by Design. The app stores all notes, photos, and location data exclusively on your device. There are no user accounts, no server connections, and no cloud synchronisation.
The app requests permission to access your device's location. Location data is used solely to attach a new note to your current position and to display notes on the map. Location data is never transmitted and never leaves your device.
You can restrict or revoke location access at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → LocaleNotes.
The app requests permission to access your camera and photo library. Photos are stored locally within the respective note only. No data is transmitted.
You can revoke access at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos / Camera → LocaleNotes.
If you use a device with Apple Intelligence and have it enabled, LocaleNotes may use Apple Intelligence features (e.g. automatic tagging). Processing is performed exclusively on-device by the operating system. LocaleNotes does not transmit any data to third parties for this purpose.
The Home Screen widget displays notes from the app. The data used for this is exchanged locally between the app and the widget extension only (App Group) and never leaves your device.
LocaleNotes does not collect any of the following:
No personal data is shared with, sold to, or transmitted to third parties. The app does not communicate with external servers.
Because all data is stored exclusively on your device, it is protected by iOS's built-in security mechanisms, including device encryption. We recommend securing your device with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
LocaleNotes is not directed at children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected, there is no particular risk for children.
Since LocaleNotes does not collect or store personal data, rights of access, erasure, or rectification towards us largely do not apply. You can delete all your notes at any time directly within the app. If you have any questions, please contact us at the email address listed in Section 1.
If we update this policy, the new version with the updated date will be published in the app and on the App Store. Significant changes will be communicated separately.
The map view uses the native mapping capabilities of iOS (MapKit / Apple Maps). Apple's data practices for Apple Maps are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
